New Year Message from the GCUOBA UK and Eire Executive Committee
Dear Umuahians,
Happy New Year to you and your families. We congratulate each member of our great association on successfully navigating the challenges we faced in the past year. Your dedication, resilience, and commitment to our collective vision have been truly inspiring.
As we look ahead to 2025, our thoughts must centre on the time-tested culture of collaboration, understanding, respect, and unity of purpose that defines us. These values form the foundation for a sustainable and progressive push toward our shared goals, not just for our great alma mater, Government College Umuahia, but also for the pride and legacy of our esteemed Old Boys’ Association.
In the UK and Eire, our focus remains steadfast on building a platform that all members can be proud of. This vision will be realized through:
1. Strengthening our internal processes and procedures.
2. Enhancing our welfare support systems to better serve our members.
3. Driving greater participation and engagement across our membership.
4. Reinforcing our associations structural resilience to face the future with confidence.
Our external efforts will be guided by what is best for our alma mater, both in the short and long term. Collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Abia State Government, GCUOBA NEC, FEDT, and GCUOBA USA, remains essential to the success of the GCU restoration project. We must unite our efforts and align our strategies to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
I call on all Umuahians to rally behind our existing governance structures and work in unity for the development of our association and the lasting restoration of our cherished institution. Together, with one vision and purpose, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
May the New Year bring us renewed strength, shared successes, and unwavering progress.
Once more, Happy New Year to us all.
Warm regards,
Aguocha N
