Your selection marks not just a continuation but a renewal, one that affirms the depth of leadership, integrity, and commitment within our alumni body.
We especially congratulate two of our own, Dr. Anele Ebizie and Mr. Uche Orji, as they take their well-deserved place among the Trustees. Your wealth of experience and deep understanding of GCU matters will undoubtedly bring meaningful impact to this new era of FEDT administration.
We thank His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), The Performing Governor, for your unflinching support of this noble mission. Your continued commitment to the GCU restoration cause will surely yield a legacy of excellence, inspire trust across generations, and position Government College Umuahia as a strategic partner in delivering your vision for educational transformation.
As we welcome this new chapter, we must be clear-eyed about what it demands. This phase of FEDT leadership must be marked by increased and demonstrable sensitivity to the hopes, aspirations, and expectations of Umuahians both at home and in the diaspora. The Trust must be intentional in fostering a culture of collaboration, openness, and unity of purpose. Your objective should include facilitating the healing and reconnection of the GCUOBA community. The festering distrust within our esteemed community will not mend on its own, but with humility, transparency, and proactive engagement, it can give way to a stronger and more united alumni body
We honour our Pioneer Trustees, ably led by His Excellency Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo (OFR). Your courageous stewardship kept the school afloat through its darkest hours. From overseeing the historic reopening of Government College Umuahia to laying the foundations for sustainable progress, your legacy is profound. In the face of cynicism, controversy, and headwinds, you remained resolute. The GCU of today is miles ahead of where you met it, and we are grateful for your leadership.
The road ahead demands collaboration, sacrifice, and the full strength of the Umuahian spirit. Let us meet it with clarity of purpose, generosity of heart, and the courage to finish what we began.

The Government College Umuahia was founded by Reverend Robert Fisher on January 29, 1929 when he opened the gates of the school to 25 students drawn from all parts of Nigeria and West Africa, but with catchment in Eastern Nigeria, and the Southern Cameroons.
