Dear Esteemed Members,
As we proceed to celebrate Christmas and prepare to welcome a new year, I extend my warmest greetings to you and your families. This season invites reflection, gratitude, and renewed hope.
The outgoing year has not been without its challenges. Across the globe, our association, like many institutions, has felt the weight of uncertainty, transition, and testing moments. Yet, through it all, the enduring spirit of Government College Umuahia has remained unbroken.
GCU was built on values that do not fade in difficult times: resilience, brotherhood, discipline, and service. It is precisely through periods of darkness that the true strength of our bond shines brightest. I am confident that the future of GCU will not merely endure but will shine even brighter, guided by unity, purpose, and the collective commitment of Old Boys everywhere.
As we look ahead, let us carry forward a shared resolve to strengthen our association, support our alma mater, and uplift one another wherever we may be. Together, we can transform uncertainty into opportunity and ensure that the legacy entrusted to us continues to inspire generations to come.
May this Christmas bring peace, joy, and renewed faith into your homes, and may the New Year usher in good health, clarity of purpose, and collective progress for us all.
Once again, I thank you for your steadfast support and dedication to GCUOBA UK and Eire.
Season’s greetings and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.
Yours in service
Aguocha N (82, Ext Hse)

The Government College Umuahia was founded by Reverend Robert Fisher on January 29, 1929 when he opened the gates of the school to 25 students drawn from all parts of Nigeria and West Africa, but with catchment in Eastern Nigeria, and the Southern Cameroons.
